Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa will miss Sunday's game against the Las Vegas Raiders after further tests revealed he has fractured ribs, head coach Brian Flores announced Wednesday, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Jacoby Brissett will start the Week 3 matchup.

The Dolphins initially said Tagovailoa - who exited last Sunday's 35-0 loss to the Buffalo Bills - was day-to-day after X-rays came back negative. At the time, Flores was optimistic the signal-caller could play against the Raiders.

However, the coach said the team is being cautious with Tagovailoa, who pushed to play, after discovering the severity of his injury, according to NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe. Flores added that the sophomore will be evaluated on a "week-to-week" basis moving forward.

Brissett replaced Tagovailoa in the Week 2 matchup. He finished the game completing 24 of 40 passes for 169 yards and an interception.

Tagovailoa was 1-for-4 for 13 yards in his two drives against Buffalo. The former first-rounder threw for 202 yards and one touchdown against one interception in Miami's season-opening win over the New England Patriots.

Brissett is one of the NFL's most experienced backup quarterbacks. The 28-year-old signed a one-year deal with the Dolphins this offseason after making 30 starts over four seasons with the Indianapolis Colts.
