'A dream come true': Burlington woman celebrating $250,000 win thanks to OLG

After counting up the words on her Instant Crossword Deluxe ticket, Joyce Martin knew she had a big win.

At first, I thought I won $25,000," the Burlington woman said. I didn't want to wake my husband, so I put my raincoat on over my pyjamas and went to the store to validate the ticket."

When Martin checked her ticket at the store, she discovered there was another zero in her prize.

Martin immediately called her children to tell them about her $250,000 win.

They wanted me to FaceTime them when I told my husband," she said. He was worried and thought something was wrong at first. We all had tears in our eyes."

Martin, a personal support worker, says the win will help her family.

I will share with my children and save for retirement," Martin said. This is a dream come true."

The winning ticket was purchased at Hasty Market on Guelph Line in Burlington.
