Halton police are seeking the public's assistance in identifying a suspect in connection with a sexual assault at a Burlington park.

Police report that at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 20 at Spencer Smith Park, a 17-year-old girl was sitting on a bench on the Waterfront Trail when the suspect appeared to be taking photographs of her.

He then sat beside her on the bench and allegedly touched her breast above her shirt.

The suspect then reportedly fled the area on foot.

He's described as an Asian man in his 50s or 60s, five-foot-nine to five-foot-ten with a thin build and noticeable wrinkles.

He spoke with a thick accent/broken English, and was wearing a white T-shirt with red sleeves and a grey baseball hat with a white design on the front. He was holding a cellphone with a bright red case.

Police have information that two young men may have seen the victim and suspect together on the bench.

One of the youths was on a bike and the other was on a skateboard.

Police would like to speak to these potential witnesses.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact Detective Const. Andrew Corrie of the Child and Sexual Assault Unit at 905-825-4777, ext. 8971.

Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers. "See something? Hear something? Know something? Contact Crime Stoppers" at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or through the web at www.haltoncrimestoppers.ca.
