Recommended UID/GIDs for use with SlackBuilds.org scripts

I read one Slackbuild and noticed a specific GID was specified for a group used by the utility. After a while, I ended up with a list of recommended UID/GIDs.
I tried to find out why such list would exist rather than letting the system providing. Are they usecases where providing a static GID is a requirement ?
