The Kansas City Chiefs could promote Josh Gordon to the active roster in Week 5 since he's made a strong impression with the team, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.

The wideout, whom the league recently reinstated, signed with the Chiefs' practice squad last week. Coach Andy Reid previously said he was unsure when Gordon would hit the field but noted the club would see "how it goes over the next week or two."

Kansas City was planning to activate Gordon once his conditioning and understanding of the team's playbook were optimal. The 30-year-old, who hasn't played in an NFL game since 2019, was suspended for the entire 2020 campaign.

Gordon has struggled to stay on the field since leading the league with 1,646 receiving yards in 2013, earning six suspensions since then.

The one-time Pro Bowler split time with the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks in 2019 but recorded just 27 receptions for 426 yards.

The Chiefs will take on the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday before facing the Buffalo Bills in Week 5.
