[SOLVED] Question about Laptop CPUs

My $900 laptop has an i7 Intel chip clocked at 1.8Ghz, and my mom's $250 laptop has an i3 Intel chip clocked at 2.6Ghz. Mine is noticeably more powerful, so why does it have a slower clock speed? What is the difference between the i3 and i7 processors other than clock speeds?
