The Green Bay Packers have placed cornerback Jaire Alexander on injured reserve, the club announced Saturday.

The move means Alexander will miss at least the next three games after injuring his shoulder late in Green Bay's Week 4 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said Friday that surgery is not planned for the star cornerback and was hopeful Alexander would be back in a "matter of weeks."

However, it's possible Alexander's injury ends his season. Doctors are expected to decide in the coming weeks whether the cornerback will miss multiple weeks or the entire year, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

Alexander, 24, is coming off his first Pro Bowl campaign after recording one interception and 13 pass defenses in 2020. He has one pick through four games this season.

The Packers' secondary will rely on veteran Kevin King and first-round rookie Eric Stokes with Alexander sidelined.
