Ardour + Helm help required, MIDI newbie
by bou446 from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5QJPN)
Hello,
So I'm a complete newbie when it comes to MIDI stuff. I'm on Debian, with Ardour and Helm installed. I have a MIDI keyboard connected, and I seem to have an issue with routing the MIDI signals to the correct places, perhaps?
What I have successfully done is set up Ardour to use ALSA, routed the MIDI keyboard connected via USB to output through Ardour, and created a MIDI track using the synth(s) plug-in included. Great, this works.. keyboard strokes produce the corresponding tones. I have now installed Helm, and I have not been able to get it to work in conjunction with Ardour. After fiddling around, the best result I have is that either Helm only works with the on-screen keyboard in its GUI, or it will take MIDI input from the keyboard (seen by the GUI sound level indicator), but no sound is heard.
Any suggestions?
Thanks folks :)
