Is it possible to start a vnc server through tty?

I want to start it on-demand, as opposed to having the vnc server started on system boot. And, I want to start it via a terminal. The end-experience I am looking for should be like...I download the binary zip file for my vnc server, unzip it, and, then start the vnc server, all in an ssh terminal.

Is this generally possible? If so what solution would offer exactly this?
