Ministry of Labour investigating death at Flamborough plant
The Ministry of Labour is investigating after a death at a Flamborough industrial plant Monday night.
Several emergency crews responded to Coreslab Structures, a precast and prestressed concrete manufacturer just west of Clappison's Corners on Highway 5, for an industrial rescue around 6:30 p.m.
Hamilton paramedic Supt. Dave Thompson said a man in his 30s fell into a cement mixing machine and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A ministry spokesperson said the victim - an employee at Coreslab - was cleaning the mixing machine when he fell in.
Two ministry inspectors were on site Monday along with dozens of firefighters, three police cruisers and an ambulance.
A man who claimed to be the owner of the property declined to comment.
In July, Coreslab was fined $90,000 by the province after pleading guilty to a safety violation that led to the injury of a worker in 2018.
