New York Giants head coach Joe Judge believes the team's struggles start with him.

"I'm the head coach. It's my responsibility, point blank," Judge said Thursday, according to ESPN's Jordan Raanan. "Every player on this field, every position group, the execution, it all comes down to me. The fish stinks from the head down."

Judge was critical of his players' effort levels in their latest defeat, a 38-11 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. However, he promised fans it'll get better amid New York's 1-5 start.

"I've been taught that from great guys who I worked for, played for. There are no excuses, no exceptions," Judge said. "You demand it from your coaches to make sure that the players are playing the right way. You demand it of the players to know what to do and then go out there to do it."

He added: "But it starts with me and ends with me."

The Giants spent heavily this past offseason, signing Kenny Golladay and Adoree' Jackson in free agency, but those moves haven't changed the team's status quo. New York is 1-5 for the fourth time in five years.

New York has also been plagued by injuries, with Golladay, Saquon Barkley, Sterling Shepard, Evan Engram among players who've missed time this year.

Judge joined the Giants prior to the 2020 season and holds a 7-15 record with them.
