Baker Mayfield isn't ruling out playing against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Cleveland Browns quarterback said Wednesday that it's "absolutely" possible he could return for Sunday's game after sitting out Week 7 to rest his injured non-throwing shoulder.

"It definitely (helped). A noticeable difference in range of motion and strength," Mayfield said, according to ESPN's Jake Trotter. "Trying to get that strength back and be able to go as close to 100 percent as possible. But if that's not the case, then we trust the guys we have out there."

Mayfield is dealing with a torn labrum and a tuberosity fracture. The signal-caller had played through the labrum injury since Week 2 but was forced to the sidelines after aggravating the ailment and sustaining the fracture in an Oct. 17 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

Backup Case Keenum replaced Mayfield last week and led Cleveland to a 17-14 win over the Denver Broncos to snap a two-game losing streak.

While Mayfield is pushing to return, he reiterated that he won't play until he's ready to perform up to his standards.

"I said it last week, if I feel like I'm not able to be close to 100 percent and be able to help this team - if I'm in a situation where I'm going to hurt the team - I'm not going to go," Mayfield said.

The former No. 1 overall pick has completed 67.1% of his passes for 1,474 yards and six touchdowns against three interceptions this season.
