A Sydney man who escaped from a NSW prison almost 30 years ago but handed himself in after becoming homeless during the Covid pandemic could be deported when he is released from jail.
Darko Desic, 64, was homeless when he walked into Dee Why police station in mid-September and confessed to breaking out of a Grafton jail on the state's north coast in July 1992.
