Booting from a USB attached hard drive
by bushy from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5R92T)
My bios is set to boot first from USB. I can boot from a live OS on a flash drive but not from a seemingly properly installed LINUX on a USB HDD.
I have my ssd is sda1, my usb attached hdd is sdb1.
The grub menu lists the OS on the attached HDD but returns an error when it is chosen.
Error: no such device 'long alpha-numeric string'
Error: hd1 cannot get C/H/S values
Error: you need to load the kernal first
