NTFS partition has 'become' read only

by

from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5RB9H)
I have been using my pc for some months having dual booted it with windows 10. Today, when I go to make a new directory in the NTFS partition 'data' I find it is now a read only partition.

I believe I created the 'data' partition when I created the /, /home and swap partitions which are in the fstab. I have never had reason to look in the fstab so don't know if the data partition was in there. It was not in there today.

However, when I found that partition was read only, I added a line in the fstab for it. The data partition is still read only.
