Hamilton police investigating shots fired at Queen and York
Hamilton police are investigating a shooting in central Hamilton Monday morning.
Police were called to Queen Street North, between York Boulevard and King Street West, for reports of gunshots shortly before 6 a.m. Nov. 1.
When police arrived, they immediately secured the scene, but anyone involved had already fled, police said.
There are no reported injuries. Police checked area hospitals and no one showed up with gunshot wounds.
Based on evidence at the scene, detectives have confirmed it was a shooting.
Police were expected to be in the area for much of the day Monday for the investigation. Queen remains closed between York and Napier Street.
Police asked the public, including drivers, to avoid the area.
This marks the 28th shooting in Hamilton this year, including 15 victims. Six people have been killed in shootings.
