The Los Angeles Rams waived DeSean Jackson after failing to trade the veteran wide receiver before the deadline, the team announced Tuesday.

"I am very grateful for the time that I spent playing for the L.A. Rams," Jackson wrote on Instagram. "Although this isn't the outcome that we wanted, I am extremely appreciative for the opportunity and support given to me by the Rams' coaches and all of the fans. I understand that everything happens for a reason, and I look forward to beginning the next chapter of my NFL career."

Both sides agreed to seek a trade amid Jackson's forgettable performance in Los Angeles. The 34-year-old, who joined the Rams in the offseason, amassed eight catches for 221 yards and one touchdown on 15 targets through seven appearances. He didn't play in Week 8.

Jackson generated trade interest prior to Tuesday's deadline, but teams assumed the Rams would release him and opted to wait, sources told Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

He'll now be subject to waivers and looking for the fifth different team of his career.

The veteran speedster has established himself as one of the NFL's top big-play threats, averaging 17.5 yards per reception over his career. However, he's missed 24 regular-season games due to injuries since 2019.

With DeSean Jackson's expected release, per @JFowlerESPN, a current look at the Rams WR depth chart:
