by Nicole O’Reilly - Spectator Reporter from on (#5RGQA)

Two people have gone to hospital after being rescued from a fire in an apartment building across from Gage Park Thursday morning.
The pair were rescued by firefighters from a third floor unit of the three-storey, walk-up building, Fire Chief David Cunliffe said at the scene.
Emergency services were called to the building at 1083 Main St. E., near the intersection of Main and King Street East, around 7 a.m. Nov. 4.
There was heavy smoke coming from the third floor and firefighters found a well-involved fire. The fire was upgraded to multiple alarm.
Main Street was closed eastbound at Gage.
