Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores is optimistic that quarterback Tua Tagovailoa will be able to play Sunday against the Houston Texans despite dealing with an injured finger on his throwing hand, according to Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network.

The second-year signal-caller suffered the injury during last week's loss to the Buffalo Bills. He was a limited participant in practice Wednesday and Thursday.

Tagovailoa missed three games earlier this season with fractured ribs. He has thrown for seven touchdowns to five interceptions through five starts.

Meanwhile, the Dolphins are placing DeVante Parker on injured reserve after the wide receiver suffered a setback with his hamstring injury, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports. Parker will now miss at least the next three games.

The Dolphins have struggled mightily this season after a 10-win campaign in 2020. Miami currently ranks last in the AFC East with a 1-7 record.
