How trustworthy are community distributions?

So lately I've been thinking about ditching Debian, I first started using it in 2019, took a break from it for several months, then resumed again and I found it to be even glitchier than it was when I first started using it.

An example of this is configuring the nvidia driver, you have to jump through hoops to be able to do it (sudo start it from the command line, export the configuration to a non-privileged directory, and then sudo move it to /etc/X11/).

I don't exactly need a distro that "just works", but I also don't want to be following exact instructions online, specific to Debian, and then the instructions not working. Another example is Wine, I never got wine-hq to work.

The reason I don't use ubuntu, is that I don't trust the corporation that showed amazon search results on people's desktop. What kind of logic is that?! And about Mint, I think it uses the kernel with non-free blobs, and I would prefer no to use something like that, but Mint is definitely an OS I'm willing to use.

After all the research I did, I think Opensuse is what most fits what I'm looking for, I would have preferred something Arch based, but I don't want to update the OS on a monthly basis, I have a SSD.

But I read that Opensuse is a "community" maintained distro, with some people from Suse leading it. I tend to associate "community" software to "use at your own risk" and "it's not verified", and that is also why I don't want to use Manjaro, the Arch user repository.

So how trustworthy are "community" distros? I wouldn't want a forum or something like a mailing list deciding to police people who use the operating system like ubuntu decided to be adware. Like say you have piracy, or have something that in the past was deemed acceptable but publicly no longer is (I have several clips of Chappelle's show, that I have had for more than a decade, but now he seems to have said or done something offensive and public opinion toward him has shifted).

Also, does Opensuse use the kernel with non-free blobs?latest?d=yIl2AUoC8zA latest?i=lNU_2KVceMc:vwDQU2CB7Hg:F7zBnMy latest?i=lNU_2KVceMc:vwDQU2CB7Hg:V_sGLiP latest?d=qj6IDK7rITs latest?i=lNU_2KVceMc:vwDQU2CB7Hg:gIN9vFwlNU_2KVceMc
