How do I access the root directory on a second Linux drive?

I have two hard drives in my machine. One is the drive the system boots up on, the other is my old drive that also contains a Linux OP.
The problem is that I cannot see any files in the 'root' or 'home' directories on the second drive. I can access the drive. I can access some directories on the drive like 'lib', 'lib64' and a few others. But not the 'root' or 'home', which is where the data lives. Those directories are there, but when I go into them they show zero files and folders. I get the same results from the terminal as well as the file manager.

I have searched high and low on the internet for the answer, but it's hard to accurately describe the issue in a one line search string, so all I get is the same mostly unrelated answers.

The old drive is an ssd drive. It turned into a read-only drive and I was unable to correct it. I believe it's a hardware issue on the drive. After I got my system up and running on my new drive I decided it would be nice to keep the read-only drive also, as it contains over 200 gigs of music. I cant modify anything on the drive, but reading it works fine.

I'm running OpenSuse 12.2
I hope you understand my question. Thanks for the help.latest?d=yIl2AUoC8zA latest?i=JFQpWgFAJw4:mAXcSzwJi0c:F7zBnMy latest?i=JFQpWgFAJw4:mAXcSzwJi0c:V_sGLiP latest?d=qj6IDK7rITs latest?i=JFQpWgFAJw4:mAXcSzwJi0c:gIN9vFw
