Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Robert Woods is out for the remainder of the season after tearing his ACL in practice Friday, the team announced Saturday.

"You're sick for Robert ... He's epitomized everything that's been right about this place," Rams head coach Sean McVay said.

He added: "You don't ever replace a player like (Woods), but it will certainly require a lot of guys to play better and really carry the torch because of everything you miss without him."

The injury occurred on the same day the club signed free-agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.

Woods didn't notice the severity of the injury immediately after going down in practice, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. The nine-year veteran reportedly finished the session and met with the media before tests confirmed the seriousness of his ailment.

Woods ranks second on the team with 45 receptions, 566 yards, and four touchdowns this season. Los Angles will now lean heavily on wideouts Cooper Kupp, Van Jefferson, and the newly acquired Beckham.

The Rams recently released wideout DeSean Jackson, who was frustrated with a lack of playing time.

Beckham, a three-time Pro Bowl receiver, will make his Rams debut against the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football, sources told Schefter.
