High load average and imapd
by linq from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5RXY2)
My mail server occasionally experiences high load averages (>25 and up to 100-200-600) and stops accepting connections. This problem may not arise for several months, then for 2-3 days I have to just kill all imapd processes which helps but only for a short period of time. I also see occasional "imapd[2010]: segfault" in dmesg. Upgraded Slackware from 14.0 to 14.2 with all updates but nothing has changed.

Lots of imapd processes in 'D' (uninterruptible sleep) status.
Any hint at the possible source of this problem or ways to fix it will be appreciated.
