Super Bowl odds update: Bucs drop from top spot after stunning loss
While the rest of the NFL endured the carnage that was Week 9, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers remained unscathed on their bye week. This week, the chaos came for them.
Tampa Bay fell behind early and never recovered in Sunday's loss to the Washington Football Team, which dropped the Buccaneers (+650) from the pole position in the Super Bowl market. Stepping in their place are the Buffalo Bills (+600), who suffered their own shocking loss in Week 9 but bounced back with a dominant win over the New York Jets to re-assume the top spot.
The remaining field of contenders played closer to how we'd expect after a topsy-turvy slate a week ago. The Dallas Cowboys (+900) lambasted the Atlanta Falcons to sneak into the top four for the first time all season, while the Green Bay Packers (+1000) saw a slight bump in their odds with a dominant win in Aaron Rodgers' return. Both teams sit just behind the Los Angeles Rams (+700), who face the San Francisco 49ers on Monday.
Perhaps the biggest move this week came from the New England Patriots (+2500), who were priced as high as 100-1 this season but are firmly in the title mix after Sunday's 45-7 shellacking of the Cleveland Browns. That marked New England's fourth consecutive win - they've come by a combined 100 points, and the Patriots have held three of those teams to 13 points or fewer.
The biggest losers this week - other than Cleveland, which moved from 28-1 to 40-1 - were the Pittsburgh Steelers, who entered Week 10 as heavy favorites to win their fifth straight game and move into a tie for first place in the AFC North. Instead, with Ben Roethlisberger sidelined, Pittsburgh played to a tie against the winless Detroit Lions and saw its title odds dip to 80-1, tied for 17th on the board.
