Jarvis Landry admitted Odell Beckham Jr.'s departure from the Cleveland Browns "stung" and that he's unsure why it didn't work out between his friend and the franchise.

"Definitely was something that hurt," the wideout said Tuesday, according to ESPN's Jake Trotter. "It still does."

Beckham's exit from Cleveland came shortly after his father, Odell Beckham Sr., posted a video compilation of plays on which Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield missed or didn't pass to the three-time Pro Bowl receiver. The video made waves on social media ahead of the trade deadline, and the Browns excused Beckham from practice before ultimately releasing the 29-year-old.

Landry stood up for Mayfield on Tuesday, describing the signal-caller as a "tough man." Mayfield, 26, has been playing through a torn labrum in his non-throwing shoulder.

The Browns won their first game without Beckham but suffered a lopsided 45-7 loss against the New England Patriots in Week 10. Beckham, meanwhile, found himself on the losing end of a 31-10 rout at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers in his debut with the Los Angeles Rams.

Cleveland's offense struggled to get the ball to its playmakers in the Browns' loss to New England. Running back D'Ernest Johnson finished with a team-high seven receptions for 58 yards, while Landry made four catches for 26 yards.

"I haven't been able to get the ball so much, either," the five-time Pro Bowler said. "But at the end of the day, I've been able to (make the most) with the opportunities I'm given.

"Yeah, I'm battling some things, but on Sundays, I always give everything I have. And that will never change."

Landry, who has missed four games due to a knee sprain, said the 5-5 Browns remain focused on finding success without Beckham.

"(We) just have to find a way to turn it around," the 28-year-old said.

Cleveland will look to get back on track Sunday against the winless Detroit Lions (0-8-1).
