Rodgers dealing with toe injury, 'definitely playing' vs. Vikings
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was absent from Wednesday's practice due to a toe injury, according to ESPN's Rob Demovsky.
The Packers only held a walk-through Wednesday, but the reigning NFL MVP wouldn't have participated in any capacity had Green Bay held a regular training session.
Rodgers, who suffered the injury before Green Bay's win over the Seattle Seahawks in Week 10, still doesn't know his status for practice Thursday but has no doubt he'll be able to play Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings.
"I'm not sure what my status will be tomorrow or Friday, but I'd like to get out there if I'm feeling good enough," Rodgers said, per Demovsky. "But it's definitely a better week than last week being separated, being able to go through all the meetings. I plan on being at practice on the field tomorrow, not sure how much involvement I'll do, though."
He added, "I'm definitely playing Sunday. Today was a mental day, so I think a number of us were either limited or DNPs. Thankful to get a day to just do some rehab. See how the week plays out practice-wise, but definitely playing Sunday."
It's still unclear how Rodgers sustained the injury. He said Tuesday on "The Pat McAfee Show" that his toe is "a little painful," adding it was a "COVID injury."
The 37-year-old was in quarantine for 10 days after testing positive for COVID-19 on Nov. 3 and didn't practice last week. He returned in Week 10 against the Seahawks after missing the Packers' loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Rodgers struggled in his return, completing just 62.1% of his throws while tossing 292 yards and no touchdowns against one interception.
Green Bay, currently the NFC's No. 1 seed, improved to 8-2 with its victory over Seattle.
