Firefox download open location in KDE

Using latest -current i noticed a strange behaviour in firefox.
When i download something and use the button to open the downloaded file location the following happens:
- if a dolphin window was already opened, then a new tab in dolphin is created, pointing the downloaded file location
- if there's no dolphin window opened, the entire system will freeze for some seconds, after which a Thunar(!) window is opened pointing to the file
I think that this misbehavior is due to the xdg-portals non working as expected for some reason, but i'm not sure how to properly debug this thing.
I mean, its okay if a thunar window is shown, as slackware ships with multiple file managers and the xdg-portal probably select the first it find based on some internal rule. The thing that bothers me is really only the system freeze.
Does anyone else observe this?
