Cups Service Won't Start On New Debian 11 LXDE
by michael diemer from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5S4KK)
I just installed Debian 11.1 on an old hard drive. Everything works great, in fact it's one of the few up-to-date distros that will work on this old desktop, which has Nvidia 6150 SE graphics. So I'm very happy and impressed! I'm also loving LXDE and am thrilled it is again receiving updates. This is too good a DE to abandon!
The only hitch so far is I can't set up a printer. Cups is installed, as verified by a search I did for it on Synaptic. The error message I get says that the Cups Service won't start, or I can't connect to it. Since I'm a newcomer to Debian, I'm not sure what to do. On other distros, installing Gutenprint has solved this kind of problem, so should I try that? Or something else?
thanks, mike
