Debian/VLC/GoPro Hero4 Stream to screen help
by buzzdandy from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5S6FS)
I have a GoPro Hero4, VLC and Debian on an ASUS laptop. The GoPro is plugged into the laptop via USB. The GoPro screen says "USB Connected" whenever I plug it into the laptop. I don't seem to be getting indication in VLC that there is a camera plugged in. I can view the input from the webcam that is built into the laptop, but that's not what I need.
When I open the file manager I don't see anything coming up as far as a file system on the camera.
All I want to do is view the input of the GoPro camera on my laptop screen. I don't need to record anything.
Can someone get me on the right track please? Thanks
EDIT: Upon further investigation, I think I have to find a different cable and plug into the second "HDMI" port of the camera to output the live view of the camera to the laptop. I'll have to try that tomorrow.
