Panel pc front keys not working with Ubuntu 16.04 + Openbox

Hello,
I have a problem with the front keypad of a panel pc (G3900 processor with 4GB of RAM). The front keypad has 5 keys: an On / Off key, two volume adjustment keys and two brightness adjustment keys.
My application runs on Ubuntu 16.04 with Openbox and, with this configuration, only the On / Off button works. Adjusting the volume and brightness do not work.
I did a test with a live Ubuntu 20.04 and the keypad works perfectly.
There is no specific driver supplied by the manufacturer to make the keypad work.
Do you have any suggestions on how to restore keypad functionality on 16.04?
