xmgrace click on curve but hang sometimes.. what is the reason?

I am on CentOS 7. Not sure this is specific to CentOS 7 or
there is some kind of X11/Wayland stuff that triggers
a bug that I have not seen before.

When I use xmgrace software to plot a graph, in the past, clicking
on the curve to start a window "Grace: Set Appearance"
is very robust. I remember on CentOS 6 and gnome2 life was so good with
xmgrace.

When the latest Linux xorg/wayland (? I cannot even pinpoint
what went wrong), the clicking
on that sometimes cause a small black wheel to keep turning without
making a window to pop up. It hangs!!

This is really annoying since I am trying to focus to analyse the
data.

I tried to report such bug in grace forum but the site
seems dead. It has been dead for many months.
So I am just curious this is to due to some package problem that
trigger this bug? Any one has such experience?

Also when I logout and restart the session the problem goes away.

This is very annoying since i am losing something precious in linux
environment -- consistency.

Do I have to migrate to another distro just because of a silly
bug like this?latest?d=yIl2AUoC8zA latest?i=PnRyhTzf8gs:St12ojAmJd4:F7zBnMy latest?i=PnRyhTzf8gs:St12ojAmJd4:V_sGLiP latest?d=qj6IDK7rITs latest?i=PnRyhTzf8gs:St12ojAmJd4:gIN9vFw
