Trying to Escape Windows

I am a long time Windows user and am looking to get away from Windows due to the direction that Microsoft is taking. I have tried many distros to try to find those that suit me better. I have found Linux operation and computer loading to be wonderful using my old laptop and really want to get to the point that I can switch my desktop. That said, I am a little intimidated by what I don't know and I have found printer setup issues in most of the distros and between different versions of distros that, at this point, may prevent me from moving away from Windows. I'll post that in another thread with my request for help. Looking forward to learning here.
