Unstable USB device passthru with qemu/kvm in CentOS 7

I'm using qemu/kvm under CentOS 7 to virtualize a Win10 machine and pass a usb device (non-storage. A scientific device) through from the Linux host to the guest.

That works fine.

The problem is that if the Linux host is rebooted, the usb identification of the connected device seems to change and the VM can't see it. This also halts the automatic booting I've setup for the Users. I have to manually check the available USB devices in Virt Manager, see what number this device is now, then re-assign it to the VM. Then I can manually start the VM.

Training the non-techie Users to do this is a bit beyond them. Is there any way I can stabilize the USB declaration of the device across host reboots? Similar to the way you can label disk partitions so you can use the label in fstab instead of a non-guaranteed /dev/sdXX reference?latest?d=yIl2AUoC8zA latest?i=UjSvs05fqHw:iuqn2W8bwoQ:F7zBnMy latest?i=UjSvs05fqHw:iuqn2W8bwoQ:V_sGLiP latest?d=qj6IDK7rITs latest?i=UjSvs05fqHw:iuqn2W8bwoQ:gIN9vFw
