UEFI dual boot hangs
by mackowiakp from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5SPTK)
I have an M2 disk in my PC with UEFI dual boot WIN10 and Linux installed. There is also a "normal" data HDD in the computer, which has a "dos" partition table.
In addition, I have a HDD connected to USB 3.1. This disk has a GPT partition table and is not mounted automatically at boot.
It is mounted only for the backup and then unmounted.
However, it is powered all the time and therefore visible for example in "lsusb".
The problem is that if the disk is connected to power at boot time, Linux startup freezes. If I unplug power from this HDD, my computer will boot normally.
After the boot is finished, I turn on the power of the disk and the PC works fine.
What could be the cause of the system freezing during boot with the disk power on? In partition table type (GPT)? Another cause?
