Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Richard Sherman will get some training at safety when he returns from injury, Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians said Monday, according to team reporter Carmen Vitali.

The 33-year-old could be back this week, notes Vitali.

Sherman has been on injured reserve with a calf injury and has not appeared in a game since Week 6. He battled a hamstring ailment earlier in the season before injuring his calf.

Tampa Bay's depth at safety has taken a hit recently, with Mike Edwards serving a three-game suspension and Jordan Whitehead missing Week 13 with a calf injury.

The Buccaneers signed Sherman in September after injuries to Sean Murphy-Bunting and Carlton Davis; both corners have since returned to the starting lineup.

Sherman has recorded 11 tackles in three appearances with Tampa Bay this season. The five-time Pro Bowler entered the campaign with 36 career interceptions and 115 passes defended.
