can't turn on monitor mode in wireless adapter

I want to capture packtes with Wireshark in monitor mode but when i check the monitor mode option in wiresharK it refreshes and becomes unchecked. Then i tried to turn on monitor with Code:sudo iwconfig wlp2s0 mode monitor and it automatically goes back to managed mode after a few seconds. My wifi driver is iwlwifi and i even set the kernel module parameter as stated by Linux Wireless Wiki but it still doesn't work.
I thought it was because of NetworkManager so I disabled it and manually set wifi but it did not work and the same thing happened, monitor mode turns on for few seconds and goes back to managed mode
I am using a ThinkPad L380 laptop running Ubuntu 20.04 with kernel 5.11.0-41-generic and the my wireless adapter is
Intel Wireless AC 8265/8275 and from what i have searched it should support monitor mode
