22-year-old run over, killed in Stoney Creek parking lot

Police say they have arrested a suspect after a 22-year-old man was run over by a car and died in an east Hamilton parking lot early Monday.
At a press conference Monday morning, Det. Sgt. Steve Bereziuk said a 24-year-old Hamilton man is in police custody and likely to be charged with first-degree murder later today."
The victim was hit intentionally" by a car in the back parking lot of an apartment complex at Barton Street East and Covington Street at around 4 a.m. on Dec. 13, Bereziuk said.
He died on scene with catastrophic" injuries.
This is Hamilton's 18th homicide this year, a new record for the city.
Photos from the scene show a large area cordoned off by police tape, as well as a silver vehicle with a broken window and other obvious damage.
Barton Street East is closed from Centennial Parkway to Lake Avenue North. Bereziuk said to expect heavy police presence in the area throughout the day.
