Jerry Jones: 'Probably fair' to call Dak's recent dip a slump
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Tuesday it's "probably fair" to describe Dak Prescott's recent drop-off as a slump, despite his coaches suggesting otherwise.
"I don't want to say that - slump - but that's probably fair," Jones told 105.3 The Fan in Dallas. "But it's such a multifaceted evaluation that I would say that our offense is definitely away from where we were playing five and six games ago from the standpoint of production. What the opposing defenses have to do with it needs to be considered."
Prescott raced out to a hot start in 2021, but he's thrown eight touchdowns and six interceptions since returning from a calf injury that cost him a game in late October.
He threw two picks to the Washington Football Team in Week 14, including one that was returned for a touchdown and gave Washington hopes of a late comeback. After averaging 34.2 points per game over their first six contests of the season, Prescott and the Cowboys have put up 25.8 points over their last six.
"I don't think Dak is in a slump," McCarthy said Monday, according to ESPN's Todd Archer. "I think everything has not gone the way we would like to go are things we can improve on."
Offensive coordinator Kellen Moore said he wasn't keen on the "description of slumps" when asked about Prescott's dip.
Jones also said Prescott is healthy, cooling any speculation that an injury could be leading to the signal-caller's inefficiencies.
