Need help with Timeshift on Linux Mint 20.2 after undesirable setup

I need help using Timeshift on Linux Mint 20.2 (Uma). I feel like a little kid; "I did something bad." I didn't follow the directions I found in a book (Linux in easy steps 6e) while going through the initial wizard. Instead of choosing an external drive as the location for snapshots, I must have chose my PCs hard drive. I have a few questions. I know choosing my hard drive is an option. It's just that I want to use a flash drive now and want things to be perfect if that's not too much to ask for.
I want to use a 32 GB flash drive. 1. Can I format it by just right-clicking it on the desktop and then following a wizard (USB Stick Formatter) to format it as ext4 or should I follow these instructions?:
How To Partition and Format Storage Devices in Linux | DigitalOcean
https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-partition-and-format-storage-devices-in-linux
I say this because the drive needs to have a Linux partition.
2. Should I just I just uninstall Timeshift and start all over? 3. Would that make things any easier? I think Linux isn't as bad as other OSs when it comes to leaving things behind when you uninstall things but I was just wondering. I noticed it made a folder called "timeshift" and now displays a window for creating a new snapshot upon launch.
