Roethlisberger moves into top 5 all-time in passing yards

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger moved into fifth on the NFL's all-time passing yards list during Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans.

Roethlisberger took the No. 5 spot on the all-time list from draftmate Philip Rivers by completing a 3-yard pass to Najee Harris in the second quarter.

The veteran quarterback entered the contest with 63,414 passing yards, needing just 26 yards to edge out Rivers, who retired following the 2020 campaign. Roethlisberger now trails Brett Favre, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, and Tom Brady on the all-time list.

Roethlisberger built a reputation as a gunslinger over his career after being selected with the No. 11 pick in the 2004 draft. He's thrown for more than 4,000 yards in six seasons and has led the league in passing yards twice over his career (2014, 2018).

He produced a career-high 5,129 passing yards in 2018 - only Manning, Brady, and Brees have thrown for more yards in a season.

The 39-year-old's arm strength has declined in recent years, resulting in the quarterback operating a quick-passing system. Still, he entered Sunday's contest with 3,066 passing yards, 19 touchdowns, and seven interceptions.
