The Qubit Supercharged: Researchers Introduce the Qutrit

Riggeti Computing has announced that they've unlocked a new quantum state that allows for useful work to be carried out. Adding to the classical duo of quantum states, qutrits, as the new quantum computing elements are being called, could enable short bursts of even higher quantum performance than previously thought possible.
