What’s open and closed in Hamilton during the holidays
City Hall
The city closed all museums, recreation centres, municipal service centres (except city hall) and some public service counters until further notice on Dec. 22.
No change this year to the garbage collection in Hamilton, Halton and Niagara with Christmas, Boxing Day and New Year on the weekend.
In Hamilton, live Christmas tree pickup is during the weeks of Jan. 3 and Jan. 14 on your regular pickup day. Remove decorations before placing the tree at the curb. Check your waste schedule.
In Halton, live Christmas tree pickup is during the weeks of Jan. 10 to Jan. 21. Check your waste schedule.
Libraries
Hamilton-branch locations are closed on Dec. 24, 25, 26, 27 and Jan. 1 and 3. Visit hpl.ca/hours
Transportation
HSR - Christmas Eve will follow a regular weekday schedule; Christmas Day, special holiday schedule with limited bus service until 9 p.m.; Boxing Day follows a Saturday schedule on some routes; New Year's Eve runs on regular weekday schedule, to encourage safe celebrations at home there will be no free or extended service offered; and New Year's Day will be a special holiday schedule with limited bus service until 9 p.m. For HSR information call 905-527-4441, hamilton.ca/hsr-bus-schedules-fares
Burlington's Downtown Transit Terminal is closed Dec. 25, 26 and Jan. 1. Transit service will run until 7 p.m. on Christmas Eve; modified holiday service Christmas Day; Boxing Day follows the Sunday schedule; regular service returns Dec. 27; modified holiday service Jan. 1. GO Transit will run on a Sunday schedule on Dec. 25 and 26 and on a Saturday schedule on Dec. 27, 28, Jan. 1 and 3. Be sure to check the schedule at gotransit.com.
RBG
Royal Botanical Gardens are open 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 24; closed Christmas Day; closed Boxing Day; open New Years Eve from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and closed on New Years Day.
Hamilton Conservation Authority
HCA's main office and administrative headquarters are closed at noon on Dec. 23 until Jan. 2. All HCA conservation areas will remain open during this time, with the exception of Christmas Day.
Hamilton Farmers' Market
The market is open daily Dec. 23 and 24, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The market is closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.
Warplane Heritage Museum
Closed Dec. 24 at 12 p.m. until to Jan. 4 inclusive.
Canada Post
Post offices are closed and there is no delivery Dec. 25 to 28 and Jan. 1 to 3.
LCBO and Beer Store
LCBO stores close at 6 p.m. on Dec. 24. All stores are closed on Dec. 25 and select stores open with reduced hours on Dec. 26. Stores are open on Dec. 31, operating with extended hours. Closed Jan. 1.
The Beer Store outlets close at 6 p.m. on Dec. 24. Closed Dec. 25 and select stores will open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 26. All stores closed at 6 p.m. on Dec. 31 and are closed Jan. 1.

Mapleview Shopping Centre closes at 5 p.m. on Dec. 24 and opens again from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Dec. 26. It is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 31.
