No decision yet in bail hearing for Lucy Li

A judge has reserved his decision on whether to grant Yun (Lucy) Lu Li bail.

Superior Court Justice Andrew Goodman heard submissions in a Hamilton courtroom Friday, and will give his decision on Jan. 13.

Li, 26, faces charges of first-degree murder and attempted murder in connection with a Feb. 28 double shooting behind a Stoney Creek business that killed 39-year-old Tyler Pratt and seriously hurt his girlfriend. Li's boyfriend, Oliver Karafa, faces the same charges, though he is currently in custody and fighting extradition in Eastern Europe, where the two fled after the shooting.

Li and Karafa were arrested in Budapest in June after several months on the run.

The three-day bail hearing for Li began Dec. 13. It was initially scheduled for two days.

Hamilton police have said the couple flew to Prague, Czech Republic in the days following the shooting. Following their arrest, Li quickly waived extradition and was flown back to Canada in the custody of Hamilton police homicide detectives. She has remained in custody ever since and was present in court Friday. Her family and supporters were also in court.

Details of the bail hearing, including evidence and any reasons given by the judge for his decision, cannot be reported because of a standard publication ban.

Karafa remains in custody in Hungary. He has been fighting extradition. Earlier this month, the Metropolitan Court of Budapest, found that the conditions for extradition ... were met."

Karafa and his lawyers are appealing that decision.

The court in Budapest has revealed that Karafa is the alleged shooter and that the two couples met that Sunday for a business meeting of some sort.
