The Jacksonville Jaguars will interview Bill O'Brien for the team's head coaching position next week, according to John Reid of the Florida Times Union.

O'Brien is currently Alabama's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

The 52-year-old was head coach of the Houston Texans from 2014 until 2020, when he was fired after an 0-4 start, and he served as general manager in 2020 as well. O'Brien led Houston to a 52-48 record with four postseason appearances.

O'Brien was previously head coach at Penn State (2012-13) and notably worked as a quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator at the end of his 2007-11 tenure with the New England Patriots.

Jacksonville fired Urban Meyer (2-11) on Dec. 16 following multiple controversies in his first year as head coach.

O'Brien joins Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive coordinator Todd Bowles, and former Philadelphia Eagles coach Doug Pederson among candidates expected to interview with the Jaguars.

The Jaguars (2-14) could wrap up the first overall selection in the 2022 NFL Draft with a loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Week 18.
