Head coach Vic Fangio's status with the Denver Broncos is up in the air ahead of Saturday's regular-season finale against the Kansas City Chiefs, sources told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, Ian Rapoport, and James Palmer.

The Broncos are expected to move on from Fangio, but no final decision has been made yet, NFL Network reports.

Fangio reportedly met with the general manager George Paton to make his case for a fourth season.

The 63-year-old has compiled a 19-29 record entering the final week of his third season as a head coach.

Denver began the campaign 3-0 and was in playoff contention in early December. However, the club faltered following an injury to quarterback Teddy Bridgewater and is now set to miss the postseason for a sixth consecutive season.

The Broncos are currently the league's third-ranked scoring defense, allowing just 18.4 points per game. However, the offense has struggled during Fangio's tenure, with the club unable to find a franchise signal-caller.

Denver was dealt numerous injuries and COVID-19-related absences in 2021. Fangio addressed the team's hardships Wednesday.

"We got to 6-5, (and) we lost three tough games against teams that are going to make the playoffs," he said. "A play here and there, a better call here and there, and maybe we get over the hump there and we're still in the hunt now."

Denver (7-9) enters Saturday's AFC West matchup on a three-game losing skid.
