Acropolis fills hole left by Greek Palace’s downtown departure

Lower city Greek food fans, glum after Souvlocke closed and Greek Palace left for the Mountain, will be happy with the newest John Street South addition.
Acropolis Greek Taverna opened in December in the John and Jackson building that was once Affinity Restaurant.
The restaurant is straight forward, offering chicken and pork gyros and souvlaki in sandwich form or with sides, as well as some salads and sides. Try the truffle fries.
Acropolis Greek Taverna is at 85 John St. S. It opens at 11 a.m. and closes at 10 p.m. Monday to Friday, and it opens at 12 p.m. and closes at 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
