STORM CLOSURES: Hamilton area cancellations and updates

A blizzard warning is now in effect Monday morning for Hamilton through this evening. Environment Canada says the worst conditions are expected until approximately 11 a.m.

Cancellations closures and updates

Schools and daycare

• All Hamilton area Catholic and public schools are closed. Transportation is cancelled. HWCDSB elementary asynchronous (not at the same time) learning work should be posted by 10 a.m.

• Calvin Christian School is closed.

• Halton Catholic and public schools and workplaces are closed. Transportation is cancelled for all Halton in-person and virtual students.

• District School Board of Niagara public and Catholic schools (including remote learning) and administrative sites are closed.

• Grand Erie public schools and Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic schools are closed, transportation cancelled.

• McMaster University is closed. All scheduled classes, lab, studios and events - in-person and remote - are cancelled.

• Mohawk College is closed and all classes cancelled.

• Redeemer University has cancelled day classes. Evening classes will run as scheduled.

• Sheridan College is closed. All on-campus classes are cancelled and facilities closed. Virtual classes, online meetings and online activities will continue as scheduled.

• Brock University's in-person classes and on-campus activities and events are cancelled. Online classes will continue as scheduled and employees who have been working remotely due to the pandemic should continue to do so today.

• Rehoboth Christian School buses and school closed.

• YWCA Hamilton child care centres are closed.

• St. Matthew's Children's Centre is closed.

• Red Hill Family Centre is closed.

Transportation

• HSR weekday service is planned for today. Buses are running however most routes are experiencing delays due to the weather. Please check http://hsrnow.hamilton.ca for information.

• DARTS Transit service is cancelled.

• Ride Norfolk Service cancelled.

Services and facilities

Hamilton

• City of Hamilton garbage pickup is cancelled. The city advises residents that the bag limit will be increased to two bags next week for those who did not receive pickup today. Community Recycling Centres are closed. Transfer stations will remain open.

• Hamilton's vaccine clinics are open (with the exception of the Glanbrook Arena COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic which is closed).

• Hamilton City Hall, City Hall Citizen Service Centre and POA office are open.

• Mission Services' Good Food Centre is closed.

• Neighbour 2 Neighbour locations, programs and services are closed.

• Cancer Assistance Program is closed.

• Compass Community Health Centre is closed. All programs and services are cancelled.

• Hamilton Conservation Authority Woodend main office is closed and HCA Conservation Areas are closed until staff are able to get them in operational conditions.Hamilton Public Libraries are always closed Mondays. You can access HPL Online.

• Hamilton Dental Health Bus is closed today.

Halton

• Halton waste collection is cancelled today and will resume Tuesday. Waste collection will take place one day later this week.

• Burlington Public Libraries are closed.

Niagara

• Niagara Region facilities and services are closed or cancelled for the day. Including garbage pick up, daycare and immunization clinics. niagararegion.ca

Community

• Royal Botanical Gardens facilities are closed.

• BGC Hamilton-Halton is closed.

• Hamilton Urban Core Community Health Centre all on-site services, 181 Main St. W., are closed.

• Waterdown Pediatrics will change all in-patient visits to phone appointments for today only.

• Hamilton Jewish Family Services, along with its services, are closed.

• Stoney Creek Rehab and Wellness Centre, Dr. Angelo Frisina, is closed.

Retail

• H. Williams Jewelry is closing all locations Monday.

• Many shops and restaurants on Locke Street will be adjusting their hours due to the weather, call before visiting. @LockeStShops
