Bucs' Arians: Wirfs in walking boot, could play in divisional round
Tampa Bay Buccaneers right tackle Tristan Wirfs has a chance to play in the divisional round Sunday despite being in a walking boot, head coach Bruce Arians announced Monday, according to team writer Scott Smith.
Wirfs sprained his ankle early in the Bucs' wild-card victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. He briefly returned before halftime but limped off the field after just one drive.
Arians added that the decision on Wirfs and center Ryan Jensen will likely come Friday. Jensen also appeared to suffer an injury in the wild-card matchup, but he didn't miss a snap.
Additionally, the Buccaneers are awaiting the return of running backs Leonard Fournette and Ronald Jones after they missed Sunday's win. Arians said both backs are uncertain to suit up, according to The Athletic's Greg Auman. The team has to see if Fournette can run full speed on his injured hamstring, while Jones still isn't cutting due to an ankle ailment, Arians added.
Tampa Bay will face the winner of Monday's night wild-card game between the Los Angeles Rams and Arizona Cardinals.
