The Seattle Seahawks parted ways with defensive coordinator Ken Norton Jr., the team announced Tuesday.

Seattle is also moving on from passing game coordinator Andre Curtis as part of the overhaul of the defensive coaching staff.

Norton, 55, has been the Seahawks' top defensive assistant for the past four seasons, overseeing a unit that fared well in terms of points allowed but often struggled with total yardage.

Seattle's defense finished the 2021 campaign 11th in scoring and 28th in yards, giving up 379.1 yards per game. The aerial attack particularly caused problems for the Seahawks, ranking 31st in the NFL after allowing 265.5 passing yards per contest.

Seahawks assistant head coach/defensive line coach Clint Hurtt and Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Ed Donatell are among the candidates to replace Norton next season, Bob Condotta and Adam Jude of The Seattle Times report.
