Hit-and-run collision badly injures pedestrian, dog in east Hamilton

A pedestrian and a dog were badly injured after an apparent hit-and-run collision Sunday night on Lawrence Road.
Hamilton police spokesperson Const. Indy Bharaj said officers responding to reports of a collision found a pedestrian and dog on the ground" near Hillside Avenue around 9:15 p.m.
He said a suspect vehicle had fled the scene.
The pedestrian was rushed to hospital with serious, life-threatening" injuries. No further information was immediately available about the injured person or the dog.
The police collision reconstruction unit closed Lawrence Road for several hours for an investigation, but the area reopened to traffic after 2 a.m. today.
